Silecroft, Cumbria, England
Lachra is a rough luxe beach shack on the shores of the Irish Sea within the Lake District National Park, near the village of Silecroft. It is deliberately stripped back: no wifi, no microwave, no washing machine. Instead there are varnished wooden floors, blankets, candles, a hot tub, and a beach outside the door. It occupies a Site of Special Scientific Interest, which keeps the surrounding landscape wild and undeveloped.
This is the Lake District at its most elemental. The coastline here is largely overlooked in favour of the central lakes, which means quieter beaches and bigger skies. The local pub in Silecroft has log fires and real ales. Days are built around coastal walks, woodland rambles, and mountain hikes; evenings around candlelit meals and hot tub stargazing. The deliberate lack of connectivity is the whole point.
We love that Lachra commits fully to its off grid philosophy. No wifi, no distractions, just the Irish Sea and a hot tub under dark skies.
Reviewers rave about this beautiful place, noting no need to leave as the cabin provides everything needed. Guests consistently leave feeling relaxed and refreshed.
