Selside, Cumbria, England
Howgill Haven sits on family farmland near Selside, four miles from Kendal and right on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The pod looks out across the Howgill Fells, a quieter, less trampled range that most Lake District visitors never reach. Handcrafted rather than factory built, it has a more considered feel than the typical glamping pod, with a proper kitchen, ensuite shower, and double doors opening onto a private patio with firepit and BBQ.
This is a strong base for walkers and cyclists, with Kendal, Windermere, and Ambleside all within easy striking distance. Two sister pods on the same site mean small groups can book together without sharing a single space. The sustainable touches, from refillable toiletries to eco cleaning products, suggest an owner who thinks beyond the minimum.
We love the Howgill views. Most pods trade on Lake District proximity, but this one faces the other way, towards a fell range that feels properly remote.
Reviewers experienced a fantastic stay in beautiful pods in Kendal, appreciating the peaceful area and exceptional hospitality from Lorna. Highly recommended and many plan to return in the future.
