Ballyferriter, Ballyferriter, Ireland
A rustic wooden hut perched on a clifftop on the Dingle Peninsula, with one wall almost entirely glazed to maximise the sea and mountain views. This is stripped back accommodation: a bed, a shelf, a small electric heater, and not much else. The shower is outdoors on the path to a private beach, and the toilet is a short walk away. At £84 a night, the price reflects the simplicity.
The broader site, Atlantic Bay Rest, includes a communal Galley room with a kitchenette, musical instruments, and a sunrise view, plus a bookable sauna overlooking the beach. Kayaks and a private boat ramp are available in good conditions. The location on the western tip of the peninsula is genuinely dramatic, and the Bird Nest puts nothing between the occupant and the Atlantic.
The almost entirely glazed wall on a clifftop, with a private beach below and the Atlantic ahead. No other tiny stay on the Dingle Peninsula offers this kind of raw coastal position.
Many guests described their stay as something out of a fairy tale, expressing their love for the enchanting experience.
