About this stay

A 17th century barn conversion in the grounds of a 1630 listed farmhouse, set in open countryside on an equestrian property yet only 14 minutes from Gatwick Airport. The proximity to London via a 30 minute express train, combined with the genuine rural setting at the end of a quiet country lane, creates an unusual dual purpose: weekend countryside stay and practical base for southern travel.

The restoration keeps exposed beams and vaulted ceilings intact while adding underfloor heating, a roll top bath with rain shower, and modern kitchen amenities. At £184 per night, it competes well with airport hotels while delivering something they cannot. Some aircraft noise from Gatwick is part of the deal, but the Surrey Hills, High Weald, and South Downs are all within easy reach.

What we love

We love the contradiction. Genuinely old, genuinely rural, and genuinely close to Gatwick. That combination barely exists elsewhere.
